Things To Do Before You Hire A Fabricator
Schedule a visit to the production facilities to verify the work you are considering will be done in a
professionally equipped shop and not in someones garage or south of the border in Mexico. Remember the slabs that you
have selected could be at risk if they are fabricated in Mexico.
Request to see actual work in production to better understand the fabrication process. Phone
references could be a salesperson for the company, so insist on a shop visit.
Discuss with your fabricator all aspects of your project, this is an investment that will last for
decades. "The sweetness of low prices are soon forgotten, however, the agony of poor quality will last
forever".
Getting started for Granite, Marble and Natural Stone
Once you have decided on granite or other natural stone, you will then need to make a selection for
your project. All granites, marbles and natural stones are products of nature which have unique properties such as
color range, texture, shading, and pitting.
After selecting your slabs, contact fabricators in your area and send them a layout of your project.
Most fabricators can provide you with a Preliminary Cost Estimate based upon your drawings.
After reviewing competitive bids, it is time to visit the shops you are considering and make a final
selection based upon an informed decision.
Schedule a template date to measure your project. At Renaissance Stone Works we use plastic
templates so we can place your templates directly on the slab during the cutting process to insure a custom fitting
project. In addition, we can usually template over your existing tile counter tops to minimize your kitchen down time
during the fabrication of your slabs.
On your scheduled installation date have all counter tops cleared off the sink; faucet and
stove top must be disconnected prior to the final installation of the new granite counter tops.
The installers will seal your new counter tops and leave you with information on how to maintain your
counter tops.
